Meet the team

Sr Maria Natella, O.P.

I am a Dominican Sister of St Joseph. The Holy Spirit fires my heart to go to the ends of the earth to proclaim Christ. It is my greatest desire, as St Paul says in his prayer to the Ephesians, that every person will encounter Christ and that their inner self will grow strong; that they will be rooted and planted in Him, finding that they can do far more than they could ever ask for or imagine (cf Eph 3:14-21).

Anne Davis

I have been a member of the Fanning the Flame Adult Team since FtF started. I help to run the Hampshire Camp and other events that happen around Southampton. Fanning the Flame has shown me how much ordinary people in the church can achieve if they put their faith in God and work together at something they believe in. As the Fanning the Flame prayer says God can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. I love to see at camp how people just bring themselves and their talents and something amazing happens – we always have a great week that the young people really enjoy.

Gemma Nichols

I first got involved in Fanning the Flame at the age of 16 through helping with music ministry at camps in both Hereford and Hampshire.  My participation in Fanning the Flame has been a vital part of my faith journey, bringing me into a closer relationship with God and planting in me the desire to spread the love of God to others.  Coming to Fanning the Flame has impacted my family life, helped me to discern my vocation to teach in a Catholic school and led me into a marriage where I can share and continue to grow in my faith.

Ben Nichols

I like long walks and rainy days, exploring castles and the unique and complex lives of river otters.

Alastair Anderson

I have been one of the camp site-managers for many years. Over the years I have been inspired by the works and efforts of the young people, their enthusiasm for living their faith, and the joy that we experience as a team helping the young people.

Sr Theodora Oti, HHCJ

I belong to the congregation of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus and work as a youth leader in the parish of English Martyrs, Reading. I enjoy music and have a passion to see the young people grow in their faith through active ministry and fellowship. A one day experience at summer camp with the young people praying for me became a powerful experience and a motivation to join the Fanning the Flame team.

Jean-Rémy Duboc

A computer developer by day, Jean-Rémy is also a musician who loves leading everyone in worship. He designed and developed the brand new Fanning the Flame website, and brings a little French “je ne sais quoi” to all our activities.
